‘It is arson:’ 6 churches set on fire near Ferguson in 10 days

St Louis police have confirmed that six fires at churches in predominately black neighborhoods near Ferguson occurring over just 10 days have been classified as arson. There have been no injuries and officials don’t yet have a suspect.


“It is arson,” St. Louis Fire Captain Garon Mosby told media outlets, according to the Associated Press. “These [fires] are being intentionally set.”
Mosby said the possibility of a hate crime for religious or racial reasons “is part of the dynamic” in an ongoing joint investigation currently being conducted by the St. Louis Regional Bomb Unit and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The ATF has jurisdiction over fires at all houses of worship.
All the fires took place in predominately black neighborhoods within a three-mile radius of Ferguson, and all were lit at the front doors of the churches.

“It was like, ‘We’re going to come down here and kill you,’ and, ‘I want to make sure you’re all there before you meet your maker,’” Wang recalls. She starts sobbing and shaking. “I didn’t know where to go and was texting the word ‘EMERGENCY’ over and over again. … It was just the baby and I, and I had no clue what to do.”

Man Says Border Patrol Ran Him Down

LAREDO, Texas (CN) – A Border Patrol agent chased down an unarmed fleeing man and ran him over, a reckless pursuit that got the agent’s vehicle stuck on the banks of the Rio Grande, the injured man claims in court.
Rogelio Marquez Rodriguez, 36, says he “crossed into the U.S. from Mexico, without inspection, to pursue dignified, fair, lawful economic opportunities” and was rudely greeted by overzealous Border Patrol agent Richard Edward Oelfke-Philip.
Marquez sued the United States of America on Tuesday in Federal Court. Oelfke-Philip is not a defendant.
Marquez says he did not have a weapon, nor did he fight with or threaten Oelfke-Philip before the officer saw him running toward the river on Aug. 18, 2012 in Laredo and hit the gas.
“Due to the violent force of the impact, Mr. Marquez’s body was thrown a few feet away from the vehicle and it immediately caused him serious personal injuries and severe pain, suffering and discomfort that left him splayed on the ground unable to get up,” the complaint states.
Marquez suffered a broken arm and back injuries that still give him shooting pains three years later, he says.

Judge: Texas can deny birth certificates for U.S.-born children of some immigrants

A federal judge  ruled Friday that Texas officials can continue to deny U.S. birth certificates to the children of immigrants who cannot supply required identification because they entered the country illegally.

Tamir Rice update | Abagond

November 22nd 2014: Tamir Rice, a Black boy playing in a park in Cleveland, Ohio with a toy airgun, is shot down by police. The police report they gave him three warnings before shooting, that Rice was in his 20s. The video shows them shooting him almost instantly. Tamir Rice is 12.

Police have the right to gun you down without warning if they think you have a gun and look like you are reaching for it. Even if you are 12.

 

Ohio law allows people to openly carry guns.
