Chegutu These past couple of weeks have been filled with violence and mass shootings which are a common occurrence in America today. They enter and exit the mainstream media news cycle on a regular basis, creating outrage and sadness but little action to remedy the causes. Here are some words for the weekend on that note. Stay safe family and love one another.

The role of the revolutionary press

 

In December 1964, Malcolm X gave a speech at Harlem’s Audubon Ballroom.  In one of his most famous statements, he told his audience,

Why? The press. The newspapers make you look wrong. As long as you take a beating, you’re all right. That’s the press. That’s the image-making press. That thing is dangerous if you don’t guard yourself against it.”
