Houston Food Not Bombs (which has been around since 1994) has now been ticketed at least 30 times for sharing free food with unhoused neighbors.

Today marks an unfortunate anniversary. The last time the federal minimum wage was raised was July 24, 2009.

This is the longest time that the federal minimum wage hasn’t gone up in U.S. history.

At $7.25/hour, the federal rate is also the minimum wage in 20 states.

How Income Inequality Might Lead Students to Drop Out of High School

In states like Louisiana with large gaps between the the poorest households and middle earners, students are less likely to graduate high school.

While a little bit of inequality might motivate some students to study harder, a lot of it might kill their motivation entirely.
